Myrtle Beach, SC is a top trending travel destination. Many people go to Myrtle Beach for honeymoons, family vacations, or weekend getaways. I have some great memories of spending time with my family at Myrtle Beach. Oh and then there are the two times I went to Black Bike Week with my girls. LOL. Back to the subject. I’m going to share some fun things you can do the next time you go to Myrtle Beach.
1. Beach
When in Myrtle Beach, you need to go to the beach! There are several public accesses. Let your feet make footprints in the sand as you make your way to the ocean.
2. Broadway at the Beach
This is the main place for shopping and entertainment. Pavilion at the Park is an amusement park within Broadway at the Beach. You should definitely be able to find something to do here.
3. Boardwalk
The Boardwalk is an area within walking distance from the beach. It’s always something to do. Sometimes a live outdoor concert will be going on.
4. Shopping
If you are a shopper, you’ll enjoy the outlets. There are two Tanger Outlets. You’ll find stores like Kate Spade, Coach, Loft, Gap, Old Navy, Brooks Brothers, Disney Outlet, Crocs, and more. Both have plenty of parking. Myrtle Beach Mall is large and surrounded by eateries. At this mall, you’ll find department stores such as Belk, AMC movie theater, Books A Million, and more.
5. Duplin Winery
It’s located along the highway so don’t start thinking you’re going to a vineyard. Here you will sample some wines from white to red. Most are really sweet. I really liked the Magnolia wine. After the tasting, you will receive a complimentary wine glass and an opportunity to buy wine and shop for souvenirs.
6. House of Blues
Here you can attend concerts by major artists. Also on Sundays, they have a gospel brunch with live music. Murder mysteries are held here too.
7. Souvenir Shops
If you’re wanting something to have to remind you that you were in Myrtle Beach, it seems like there’s a souvenir shop on every block. Choose from t-shirts, hoodies, towels, magnets, key chains, and more.
8. Seafood Buffets
Seafood buffets are everywhere in Myrtle Beach. You can’t miss it. If you are a seafood lover you will enjoy.
9. Medieval Times
This can be a nice outing for a family or couple. Here you’ll watch a re-enactment of medieval times. The knights are on horses galloping with their swords. Dinner is served to you, but without utensils. I knew that in advance, so I had plastic utensils with me. I don’t know about you, but I didn’t want to eat with my hands. I went here once for my birthday. The admission was free. Check out more info here.
10. Ripley’s Aquarium
The children will love this. Come enjoy the aquatic creatures. You can also sign up to swim with the sharks, watch the live shows, and see live feedings.
11. Broadway Grand Prix Family Race Park
Here you can enjoy go-kart racing. There are seven different tracks. Even an area for kids.
12. Top Golf
Any golfers? It should be a fun activity whether you know how to play or not. Food and drinks are available for purchase at the bar and restaurant. There’s also a rooftop terrace with fire pits. Just so you’ll know, Charleston, SC is getting a Top Golf soon too.
13. Lunch/Dinner Cruise
Enjoy some time cruising down the river on the riverboat. The Barefoot Queen offers a 1.5hrs cruise for lunch and 2 hrs for dinner. There’s entertainment and narration along the ride. Every 2nd Sunday there’s a gospel brunch. It began in April 2022 and will end in Oct 2022.
14. Myrtle Beach State Park
This is another way to access the beach. You can also enjoy nature trails, picnics, bird watching and more.
15. Franklin G. Burroughs – Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum
The museum is open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 am -12 pm. The original building opened in 1932 as a place for African Americans to receive an education. In the museum are historical artifacts and educational spaces. The museum is free admission. It offers workshops. There’s art for kids too. There’s even a virtual museum.
16. Myrtle Beach Colored School
The museum is open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 am -12 pm. The original building opened in 1932 as a place for African Americans to receive an education. In the museum are historical artifacts and educational spaces.
17. Myrtle Waves Water Park
The water park It’s the largest water park in the state of South Carolina. If you’re laid back like me, you’ll enjoy the lazy river, but there are water slides, tube slides, and more.
18. Ripley’s 5D Moving Theater
Here you’ll watch a short film for roughly 15 min. During the film, your seats will move like you’re actually on a roller coaster, motorcycle, etc.
19. Backstage Escape Games
It’s located at Broadway at the Beach. You’ll have an hour to complete your task of using clues to solve mysteries to escape out of the escape room.
20. Wheels of Yesteryear
If you are a car lover this is the place for you. It’s actually a museum. They have several classic old-school cars. Ladies take your man here. The admission prices are affordable (under $20). They are open Monday-Sunday.
