Ladies, every now and then we need to treat our man. You know, do some fun activities he’d like to do, but you probably don’t want to do. Or better yet, activities you’re scared to do. I’m gonna share some ideas with you. This list is great for date night, birthdays, promotions, stress relief, or just because! I know the title identifies as Charleston, but you can do it anywhere if it’s available.
Indoor Activities
1. Axe Throwing
I took hubby axe throwing at Blade & Bull for his 40th birthday. We both had a great time trying something new together. Blade & Bull Charleston is now in mobile operation instead of brick and mortar. They have additional locations in Florence, SC and Savannah GA. Chucktown Axe Throwing is another Charleston option.
2. Distillery Tour
If your man likes a little alcohol, he might like touring a distillery. At the distillery, you’ll learn about fermentation and see how the alcohol is made. Afterward, you can taste a few samples. Charleston has a few distilleries. They’re located in N. Charleston, including Firefly Distillery.
3. Cigar Lounge
Does your guy like cigars? If you answered yes, then take him to the cigar lounge. They should have some good quality hand-rolled cigars to choose from. There are a few around town including Downtown, N. Charleston, and there’s a Black-owned mobile cigar lounge called Luxe Mobile Cigar Lounge.
4. Escape Room
If your man is into solving problems or mysteries this would be a good activity. One local option is Escape in 60 which is located Downtown near The Market.
5. Gun Range
The gun range can be educational as well as fun. There are a few locations in town including ATP Gun Shop & Range in Summerville, SC.
Sports
6. Baseball Game
During baseball season you can treat your man to a Riverdogs baseball game at the Joe Riley Ball Park Downtown. It’s affordable and fun. Sometimes they shoot fireworks depending on the occasion.
7. Hockey Game
Okay, hockey might not be a game that most be automatically think about going to see. However, it’s an option in Charleston. It could be a new experience for you both. My boyfriend (now husband) and I went once. This was over a decade ago. Anyway, check out the Charleston Stingrays at the North Charleston Coliseum during hockey season.
8. Paintball
Paintball is a physical sport. It requires some running and ducking if you don’t want to get caught. I haven’t tried it myself yet. I do recall Keyshia Cole and her family playing paintball on her reality show years ago. It looked like fun. It’s a shooting sport where little gelatin filled balls are dispensed from the gun and splatters on your opponent. You can try paintball in Moncks Corner at Paintball Charleston.
Outdoor Activities
9. Horse Riding
This will be a nice outing for any couple. I’m not gonna lie, it may seem a little scary, but like our instructor said, you’re the one in control of the horse. You tell him what to do. Trust me it’s fun. You can do this in West Ashley at Middleton Place or on Seabrook Island on the beach.
10. Zip Lining
If your honey is adventurous, this is for him. My husband went zip lining on our honeymoon. I’m not on that level yet. I took his pictures, video recorded it, and said my prayer at the same time. I didn’t want to instantly become a widow. He had a blast! Zip lining can be done here in Awendaw, SC just outside of Charleston.
11. Rock Climbing
If your man is athletic, he may like rock climbing. You both can climb the 50 foot outdoor climbing wall at the James Island County Parks. There is also an indoor rock climbing experience Downtown at the Coastal Climbing Gym.
12. Speedboating
You probably didn’t know you could do speedboating in Charleston. The both of you can get on one boat together along the Charleston harbor with Charleston Speed Boat Adventures.
13. Saltwater Fishing
The country guys love fishing! This should be fun if your boo enjoys fishing. It can be done in Charleston as it’s right on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Here are at least two companies you can try, Black Tide Charleston and Reely Hooked Fishing Charters. Have your man catch the fish (clean it too) and then cook it for a nice meal.
14. Kayaking
Kayaking is quite adventurous. There are a few rivers and lakes where kayaking can take place in town. Nature Adventures offers guided tours and kayak rentals. There are options of touring Shem Creek, Capers Island, Edisto River, and Ace Basin.
15. Helicopter Tour
A helicopter ride viewing the city would be a cute date. I’ve seen in a few times on tv. If this is something you want to try, check out Fly In Helicopters. They offer tours of The Battery, Fort Sumter, Isle of Palms, and Folly Beach. Pricing starts at $35 per person.
