If you didn’t know, I was pregnant last year with my first baby. I was what the doctors would consider, “advanced maternal age pregnancy“. When expecting a baby, it’s normal to start a baby registry. If you’re like me you think of diapers, wipes, clothing, etc. After having my baby, there are some items that I feel will benefit the baby and parents can appreciate as well. I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t know some of these items existed until I had my baby. So let me help you get started with your baby registry.
1. Diaper Genie
My friend’s sister had a baby 3 years ago and offered us a Diaper Genie. I had no clue what it was. It’s a trash can specifically for dirty diapers. It doesn’t leave any odors. Prior to getting the Diaper Genie my husband would immediately take the stinky diapers to the trash outside. He calls it a lifesaver.
2. Baby Carrier
I had this exact carrier on my baby registry. My baby loves this! Probably because he’s very close beside me. It will only be a few minutes before he falls asleep in it. I use it when he’s fussy and I’m cleaning up or trying to get some steps in around the house.
3. Diaper Warmer
My cousin Charlene told me about the diaper warmer. She actually got it for my baby. Let me tell you, he loves a warm wipe. Initially he urinated every time I used a warm wipe during his diaper change. I said to myself, I’m gonna get Charlene for buying this thing! LOL.
4. Baby Mirror for Car
A Facebook friend made a post about the car mirror. I was like wow, didn’t know this was a thing. It’s super helpful to actually know what your baby is doing instead of guessing. To get your visual, the mirror is attached to the backseat headrest.
5. Little Remedies New Baby Essentials Kit
You never know when your baby may get sick or experience some discomfort. I figured it would be good to have a medicine kit available. The box contains saline spray, Acetaminophen, butt paste, and more. So far, I’ve used the gas medication, diaper rash cream, and Acetaminophen. The Acetaminophen came in handy during the Tylenol shortage. I’m so glad my friend Lydia purchased this from my baby registry.
6. Collapsible Hamper
I have a small laundry hamper that I use to take my son’s clothes out of the dryer. Early on I was using a large bag for his dirty clothes. Then I had an epiphany about using a collapsible hamper like the college kids use. I ordered one from Amazon. It keeps the room looking neat. Plus, it has handles and the top of it can close. Once the hamper isn’t needed anymore, I can fold it up and put it away.
7. Portable Bottle Warmer
Jamiee, one of my friends in my new mom group had a bottle warmer at our meeting. She got it from Amazon. I didn’t even think about getting one prior to seeing hers. It’s great for traveling and definitely convenient especially if you are bottle feeding your baby. You can definitely add this to your Amazon baby registry.
8. Nose Frida
Keierra, another mom friend recommended this gadget. She said it’s the truth! Her baby girl’s nose was clogged and the Nose Frida saved the day! The bulb suction wasn’t cutting it. With that being said, you might want to add this to your baby registry.
9. Electric Baby Nail Trimmer
My new mom friend, Joy recommended this gadget. She spoke very highly of it. My husband then ordered it from Amazon the same night. He absolutely loves this thing. He does our baby’s nails. You many wonder why I don’t do it. Well, the baby never seems to scratch me!
10. Mini Fridge
While Black Friday shopping online I came across a mini fridge for $25 at Walmart.com. I wanted it to store breastmilk. Early morning feedings interrupt my sleep. Having the mini fridge prevents me from having to leave my bed and go to the kitchen. Please don’t call me lazy. LOL. It was also convenient for me to have when I stayed with my friend Charlene after my husband’s surgery. See I gave you a baby registry item that you didn’t know you needed!
