Hey ya’ll! This week my husband and I will be celebrating our wedding anniversary. It’s year number three. Typically we do something to celebrate.
Our one year wedding anniversary celebration was on seven day cruise to Puerto Rico, St. Maarten, and Bahamas. I planned it. Figured we’d take a trip and it worked out perfectly.
Last Year’s Celebration
Last year, we celebrated at a snazzy local downtown restaurant, courtesy of my husband. Seems like so much was going on that day. Matter of fact, that entire week I thought we weren’t going to be able to do anything. My husband developed an illness. After going back and forth with the healthcare providers, they made a determination that hospitalizing him was the best solution. I won’t go into a whole lot, but it was the beginning of a storm for us as a married couple. I was like seriously, of all days you pick our anniversary. So much for a happy anniversary, right. In the end, we were able to reschedule the procedure. Our date night was successful. Food including dessert was delicious and the complimentary champagne wasn’t bad either. The service was definitely 5 stars.
This Year’s Celebration
This week, I started finding events to check out to help celebrate. First, we went to the same restaurant we went to last year, but for brunch this time. Halls Chophouse has a Gospel Brunch on Sundays. That’s when a local singing group called The Plantation Singers, sing familiar church songs that makes you pat your feet and wave your hands. It’s been something on my to do list for a while. We both had the scrumptious brioche French toast. Plus we had the biggest strips of bacon I’ve ever seen. Complimentary champagne and dessert were provided too. Consequently, both of us became so full that we couldn’t finish the meal.
To keep the celebration mood going, Sunday evening we checked out a reggae festival. The weather was nice enough for us to go out. Like in a previous blog post, it’s been raining quite frequently. The event was okay in my opinion. Our cousin ran into us. Next thing you know, I’m chatting and laughing my butt off with her and her bestie.
Our actual anniversary date falls on a weekday. What are we doing? I don’t know. The mister didn’t say anything yet. Perhaps hubby may have something up his sleeve for this weekend. I’m anxious to find out.
Within a years time, we had a lot to endure. As a result, we’ve gotten stronger I think. Above all, we’re still here. I’m looking forward to many more anniversaries together. For all of the married couples with anniversaries approaching, no matter if you’re going to celebrate really big by going out of the country, or just by going to grab a local bite for date night, just be thankful that you have each other.
