It’s May. A new month. For many, whether it’s middle school, high school, or college, graduation time is finally here. All of the studying, tests, and projects are over. Well, for those who don’t have to take another exam to obtain licensure to be employed in their field like nursing for example.
I’m reminded of my last graduation- MSN (Master’s of Science in Nursing). Facebook memories were popping up in my phone this weekend. It took me back to an exciting time. Another goal accomplished.
Undergrad
After graduating with my BSN (Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing), I swore I would never go back to school. I was comfortable with my degree and no additional student loan debt. A few years had passed and I wanted another challenge. I really had a lot of free time on my hands. The way my schedule was set up of just working 3 days a week, I could definitely get my masters, but was still debating how I was going to pay for school.
Grad School
I was at a nursing conference and college had a booth there. They were running a promotion of $600 off if you enrolled that Summer. I liked that. A few days later the counselor called me. Her name was Robin. She broke it down to me that the total tuition would be like the price of a new car. It made sense. Looking back that would not be a smart car like the majority of the new cars today.
I enrolled and completed my degree online at Grand Canyon University within 2 years. I’m still paying on those student loans by the way. I have a game plan to tackle most of it this year. I already paid one off. Yay!
If you want to go back to school or change career, do it! Pursue that dream. Accomplish that goal. It’s never too late. Stop the excuses. Don’t talk yourself out of it. If it’s something you really want to do, you’ll find a way to get it do it.
