It’s a great time to hit the beach! It’s Summer and school is out. Most women have weight loss goals in motion at the beginning of the year so they can be snatched and ready for that beach body. Well that wasn’t a goal of mine. Since I didn’t put in any work, the beach got whatever body I gave it.
We all have something on our body that we deem to be a flaw and it may seem like it’s nothing to someone else. I would love to have a flat stomach and have my back rolls to be non-existent. Now, you may look at me and say, “What in the world is she complaining about?” You may not see my belly and my rolls, but trust me, they’re there.
While on vacation in Costa Rica there were all sorts of beach bodies throughout the beach. There were your everyday men and women. No models for sure. Speaking of models, occasionally I saw some slim figured girls younger than myself posing like they were on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Two women in particular caught my eye. Perhaps they were from Europe and I’ll tell you my observation.
Meanwhile I was on the beach, sitting in my chair, reading a book, and listening to the ocean waves. I looked up and saw this lady lying flat on her back getting a tan. At first it was no biggie. Then, moments later I realized she was topless. No one else was topless but her. We definitely weren’t at a nude beach. A few kids smirked and giggled as they walked past her. In my mind, I’m thinking I don’t want to see her shriveled breasts. Who was I to judge her? If that’s what she wanted to do, then why not? I’m just not that comfortable to let mine sit out like that.
While minding my business on another occasion, I looked up to see this other lady with her pure butt cheeks hanging out of a thong. Not the firmest cheeks, but they were out. She was an older, somewhat larger woman. I’d just never seen a middle-aged woman in thong. Heck, I’ve never even worn a thong to the beach. And I probably never will. A thong as an undergarment is all I can do.
Did you get in shape for Summer? Don’t have a banging beach body? Don’t worry. Be confident in the body you have.
Bottom line, all the women were extremely confident and comfortable in their own skin. I can’t help but appreciate that. There isn’t a rule or a law that says you have to wear certain swimwear based on age, size, and shape. Wear what you have and work with what you got.
