Fall is a great time of year. The temperature cools off. The tree leaves change colors and create beautiful sceneries. If you’re like me you love the cool crisp air. Fall is also a good time to catch up with your girlfriends, especially if you haven’t seen them all year. Here are some fun fall activities you girls can get into.
1. Sunflower Field
The sunflowers are so beautiful. You can pick them yourself or purchase the precut flowers. They are great for decorating your home whether it’s fall or any season. Here I am in the photo last year. My husband cut the sunflowers for me. Those flowers lasted a long time. Plus the sunflower field is great for taking photos.
In South Carolina, Boone Hall Farms has a sunflower field that’s typically ready in October.
2. Apple Picking
I went apple picking for the first time in early October this year. Hubby and I went to an apple orchard in Georgia. It was a cool experience. I didn’t expect so many people to come. Not only was there an orchard, but several activities that kids may love like pony rides, pig races, cow milking, petting farm, and more. So if you and your girlfriend have kids, this can be a great outing for y’all. However, I was attracted to the food. I really wanted to try the apple cider donuts, but the line was too long. We picked some apples and those were the best apples I’ve ever had! Hubby even wants to go back.
Apple season is usually late August until the end of October. I know there are some orchards in Mountain Rest and York, SC. It should be a nice outing.
3. Corn Maze
I’m a country girl. I grew up with corn fields all around. After getting lost in the field briefly as a child, I don’t think I want to try a corn maze. I know the path is carved out, but I think I’ll leave it alone. However, you might be fine if you like a challenge.
Where can you find a corn maze? Check your rural areas. Moncks Corner, SC has one. Boone Hall Farms in Mt. Pleasant, SC has a corn maze. Last year it coincided with the sunflower field.
4. County/State Fair
Since we’re not kids anymore my guess is that is grown folks go to the fair for the food. Am I right? If I don’t have my nephews with me I like to walk around and get food. I generally get a Polish sausage, Turkey leg, and cinnamon roll. If I get either or all I’m good. And while walking I’ll burn off some of the fat I just ingested. LOL.
At the fair current singing artists or former artists who were hot back in the day will come to perform. At our local fair in the Charleston area, we have live shows including hypnotists, magicians, illusionists, and more.
5. Wine Tasting
I mean wine tasting is always a great activity no matter what season it is. Might as well do it in the fall.
Deep Water Vineyards on Wadmalaw Island (outside of Charleston, SC) offers wine tastings. You can purchase small bites like cheese or sandwiches. There’s plenty of space to hang out outdoors by sitting on the wood benches or you can bring a blanket to sit on the grass.
Maybe you are a pumpkin fan. Some people like to pick pumpkins and decorate them. My friend Shawn did this with her family. It looked fun. If any of my girls want to try it I’m down. After all, I’m an artsy girl.
Boone Hall Farms in Mt. Pleasant, SC has a pumpkin patch too. You can check them out for the month of October.
7. Museum
Any nerdy girls out there? I’ll raise my hand. I love learning. If your girls are into history you could check out the museum. I still have the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington DC on my list. That could be a good day trip for those who live in that area or a good weekend getaway for those in the Carolinas.
If in SC, some museum options are:
- South Carolina State Museum-Columbia
- Beaufort History Museum- Beaufort
- Columbia Museum of Art Columbia
- Gibbs Art Museum -Charleston
- The Charleston Museum– Charleston
8. Mountain Trip
Did someone say girls trip? Fall is perfect for the mountains because it’s so peaceful! Rent a cabin for you and the girls and just have yourselves a great time! For my 35th birthday, I planned a girl’s trip to the mountains in North Carolina. It was fun!
Depending on your location there could be more fall activities to get into. For example, there are mountains in Greenville, SC. You could check out Fall for Greenville like I did with my friend Shawn. And there’s also the Biltmore House in Asheville, NC.
9. Brunch Date
Want to keep it simple and cute? Schedule a brunch date. Get your girls together and meet for brunch. If you want to jazz it up a bit, pick a restaurant along the waterfront for a scenic view.
10. Get Together At Home
If you feel like hosting, have a get together at your house. You just need some food or ask everyone to bring a dish. Maybe you can play some games. Get ready to catch up on old times, talk about current events, and such. Take it up a notch if you have a fire pit. Gather the girls and head outside. Grab some coffee or hot chocolate and enjoy the outdoors.
I hope you enjoyed this post. Now reach out to your girls and see what ya’ll are gonna get into this fall! To my girls, let me know when you’re ready!
